Diversity, equity and inclusion don’t happen just because we want it to or because we think it’s the right thing to do. Thoughts are just the beginning. We must develop skills, invest in individual and organizational intercultural development, and ultimately implement actions.

— Darin Short

Experience:

  •  Provided foundational support for the Intercultural Competence and Undoing Racism Team at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary by facilitating rigorous dialogues around intercultural competence and systemic racism, and utilizing the IDI™ (Intercultural Development Inventory™) as a framework for understanding individual and organizational intercultural competence and racism.
  • Facilitated online World Cafe conversation during the Thought Leadership Conference hosted by South Bend Community Schools on the topic of disproportionality.
  • Facilitated dozens of dialogues for the Community Relations Commission of Goshen (Indiana) for the purpose of defining its mission and purpose, and for the community to be able to name its vision for the future of Goshen in regards to diversity, equity and inclusion. CRC
  • Introduced the IDI™ to Columinate consultants as a way to lay the foundation for both professional and organizational growth and development towards the ends of becoming an anti-racist organization and integrating the lens of anti-racism into all the work that is done by and through Columinate.
  • United Way Elkhart County: Managing with Intercultural Competence – A Workshop for Supervisors
  • NRECA Directors Conference workshop: Intercultural Competence at the board level, featuring the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association
  • Board Member at Maple City Market in Goshen, Indiana

A study of our own group showed that we are in a good position to move forward, but we have to take that extra step to obtain a better understanding of intercultural relations. I have enjoyed working with Darin and we are lucky to have such resources in helping us grow.
